Perseids AstroCamp Saturday 8th to Saturday 15th August 2015

Join the Mid-Kent Astronomical Society (MKAS) for a relaxing week of camping under darker skies to the South of Sittingbourne.

MKAS will be camping from Saturday 8th to Saturday 15th to do some leisurely observing with telescopes and binoculars and then some metoer watching over the peak of the Perseid meteor shower on the night of 12th – 13th August. There is no need to stay the whole week. Prices are £3.50 per person per night.

If you are new to astronomy this is an ideal opportunity to learn some tips from MKAS members, peep through other’s telescopes and compare to your own or just see which type of telescope you might want to purchase next. There will be plenty of opportunities to survey the starry heavens and learn your way around the night skies with laser guided tours from experts. If you have a reclining garden chair, a rug, a thermos flask of coffee a red torch they will add to your enjoyment under the stars. Don’t forget to bring some warm clothes as it can get chilly on clear nights.

If you are interested then please email chairman@midkentastro.org.uk before 7th August to reserve your place.

If you have your own telescope you can bring it along. If you are unsure how to use it, then do not worry as members will show you how and align it for you to get the best possible view. Please be sure to bring your tripod and battery pack if you take a telescope.

If you do not want to camp out then you are welcome to visit at £1 per person per night but please email chairman@midkentastro.org.uk before 7th August stating when you intend to visit so they can expect your arrival.
