Solar Telescopes

Solar telescopes are special purpose built telescopes used to observe the Sun. Solar telescopes usually detect light with wavelengths in, or not far outside, the visible spectrum. Solar observing is the only branch of amateur astronomy where you can see changes by the minute, rather than hours or days, unlike most astronomical objects.

Coronado solar telescopes have been continuously developed and improved upon for the professional market for well over forty years. Now they are providing creative and innovative optics specific to the needs of both the amateur and professional solar observer. The Personal Solar Telescope (PST) is a Coronado innovation and is one of the world’s most popular telescope to observe the Sun. Study of the solar disk is now within the reach of the amateur astronomer. The Coronado SolarMax II are now able to zero in on the most precise wavelength of light for each area on either side of the hydrogen-alpha (Ha) band for the highest contrast views of active regions, flares, filaments and other surface features, thanks to the introduction of the revolutionary RichView tuning method which is built into every new Coronado SolarMax II. No other commercially available HA solar telescope provides the tuning range and accuracy of the SolarMax II.

Lunt Solar telescopes offer next generation solar observing. Lunt Solar telescopes offer a range of models which can be compact and portable. The Lunt 50mm solar telescope packages are fully upgradeable at any time without ever having to go back to the factory. As the Sun becomes increasingly more active, you will appreciate that the instrument can grow right along with it. The Lunt 50mm solar telescopes, come complete with a Pressure Tuner, provides the basic essentials perfect for a first time introduction to solar observing. The best views of the Sun are undoubtedly seen through a dual etalon system. The reduction in bandwidth just seem to bring the Sun’s surface to life. The Lunt 60mm solar telescopes can come bundled with the double stack module and both etalons in the system will be matched at the factory in order to provide a system that is optimised for performance.
