Solar Observing Herschel Wedges

Solar Observing Herschel Wedges are used to observe the Sun with refractor telescopes in white light. The difference between Solar Observing Herschel Wedges and normal front mounted filters is that the wedge’s filtering takes place just before the eyepiece or camera.

This provides a better contrast and sharpness of the solar image. As the full energy and heat from the Sun will be focused inside the telescope. The 2″ wedge is designed for use with refractors up to 150mm aperture and the 1.25″ version is designed for use with refractor telescopes of up to 100mm aperture.
